The Cathedral of Milan, also known as Duomo, is a noteworthy building which made the city’s history through the centuries. The Cathedral’s construction began in 1386 and was marked by different happenings until it was finished in Napoleonic era. There has been many renovations since then. After the bombings of World War Two, the Cathedral has been deeply renovated.
The origin of the style of the Cathedral is a gothic idea of greatness and majesty. This style has been reinterpreted over the centuries leading to some stylistic contradictions. But in spite of that, the Cathedral looks like a homogeneous building.
From the roof of the Cathedral, near the spires, you can see a magnificent panorama on the city of Milan if the weather is beautiful.
Tickets for the rooftop lift can be reserved in advance (to avoid waiting in line) at the address www.duomomilano.it/book.
