Sforza Castle is one of the most famous historical monuments in Milan. It was built in 1450 by the new Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza, on the remains of an ancient castle. When Francesco Sforza died, his son Galeazzo Maria continued the construction. After the rise of Ludovico il Moro in 1494, the castle became a sumptuous building which was realized among others by Leonardo da Vinci and Bramante.
Today, Sforza Castle is the location of many historical and artistic museums and cultural events.
